Woodland Vale Care Home is a residential care home in Torrington, North Devon. It is managed by Devon County Council and offers residential care for vulnerable adults with both physical and mental disabilities including dementia.
Following a refurbishment of the home, a new Access Control System was required to offer greater security.
The system needed to offer enhanced security given the nature of the residents, whilst allowing staff to monitor the movement of residents, as well as staff and visitors to the premises.
Additionally, a hands‑free system was required to assist staff, who were often providing mobility assistance to residents.
i2 Security Limited, an integrated security specialist, worked closely with Devon County Council to expand their current system and incorporate the Woodland ale site. Thirteen uPASS Access hands‑free readers supplied by Nortech were fitted. These readers had the ability to be adjusted to provide a read‑range of 600mm. The readers were supplied together with Combi’ dual technology cards, which provided the benefit of enabling each member of staff to be issued with a single card that allows them access across multiple Devon County Council sites.
This new system provided Woodland ale with an ecient and cost effective solution, tailored to fit the needs of their employees. It also enables the client to expand the system in the future.
